Penangites celebrate a vibrant calendar of festivals all year round, spanning religious, cultural and contemporary arts events nearly every month. Visitors can witness acrobatic lion dances during Chinese New Year, the intricate weaving of ketupat (rice dumplings) during Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the awe-inspiring body piercings borne by devotees during the Hindu festival of Thaipusam and the remarkable feats of balance showcased during the Penang Chingay Parade. Beyond these deep-rooted traditions, home-grown arts festivals continue to draw global audiences, led by the highly anticipated George Town Festival and the internationally acclaimed George Town Literary Festival. Other landmark annual happenings not to be missed include the George Town Heritage Celebrations, the historic Feast of St. Anne in Bukit Mertajam, as well as major events like the Penang International Food Festival, the Penang International Dragon Boat Festival and the world-class Penang Bridge International Marathon.

Internationally acclaimed flamenco artist and choreographer Anabel Veloso presents “Flamenco Signature”, an intimate and deeply moving celebration of a remarkable artistic journey spanning more than two decades. Bringing together a selection of her most emblematic works, the performance reveals the many facets of flamenco—its intensity, elegance, vulnerability, and enduring spirit.

Joined by an exceptional ensemble featuring guitarist and musical director Gabriel Pérez, vocalist José Luis Jaén, and flautist Tete Leal, Veloso reimagines the traditional language of flamenco through a sophisticated and cinematic musical landscape. Passionate dance, soul-stirring vocals, virtuosic guitar, and expressive melodic textures intertwine to create a rich tapestry of sound and movement.

Balancing reverence for tradition with a contemporary sensibility, “Flamenco Signature” transcends cultural boundaries through the universal language of emotion. More than a dance performance, it is an immersive artistic experience that captures the authenticity, beauty, and transformative power of flamenco.
