The octogenarian sisters at Sister Curry Mee have made a name for themselves as a living heritage who serve curry mee cooked over a charcoal stove. The sister’s two signature ingredients are the chilli paste and the special cuttlefish with chilli base. The stall is now managed by their granddaughter.

Presgrave Street Ah Shen Duck Egg Char Koay Teow

Though Penang’s most famous product is assam laksa, the dish that is closest to most locals’ hearts is char koay teow, a noodle dish stir-fried over very high heat with light or dark soy sauce, chilli, prawns, cockles, bean sprouts, Chinese chives and eggs.
