Built since 1985, Mengkuang Dam is the biggest dam in Penang, located in Seberang Perai. The Mengkuang Dam is 10 times the size of the Air Itam Dam, with a capacity of 23.5 million cubic meters.

The Meromictic Lake comprising freshwater and saltwater is located in the Penang National Park. This phenomenon is a rarity where only three in Asia and one in Malaysia exist. Meromictic describes a condition where two layers of liquids (salty sea water and fresh water) of different density and temperature combine but remain separated. The Meromictic Lake only occurs between May to August in the year.
