Batu Bersurat Cherok Tokun is one of our national treasures. This stone with ancient inscription was founded by Colonel James Low in 1845, and gazetted as a national heritage site under the National Heritage Act 2005. To preserve the stone as a historical monument, a shelter was built over it. Under the care of the Penang Museum , it is preserved in the grounds of St. Anne's Church near Cherok Tokun hill in Bukit Mertajam.
