Tan Kok Oo custom-makes Nyonya beaded shoes and slippers which are traditionally worn with the Nyonya kebaya and sarong. His clients can choose their motifs from his catalogues or bring in their own print outs for him to refer to. Creating a pair of beaded shoes is an incredibly time-consuming process as the plastic beads are so tiny. It can take up to three months to complete the beading for a single pair of shoes.
