The first Penang Hokkien dialect movie, peppered with colloquial injections of English and Malay, 'Hai Ki Xin Lor: You Mean the World to Me' is to make silver screen next year, The Star reports.

Written and directed by filmmaker Saw Teong Hin, the movie is produced by Leonard Tee, with cinematographer Christopher Doyle and led-by Penang born actress Chelsia Ng and newcomer John Tan.

A five-minute trailer was shot last Tuesday at Chew Jetty, on a Penang ferry, Teluk Bahang, Bandar Baru Air Itam and various spots in George Town.

There will be stage performances of 'Hai Ki Xin Lor' to begin in September, and filming is set to start in May.
