Local urban regeneration agency Think City Sdn Bhd is stepping up to revive the sleepy town of Butterworth with the help of Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP), The Star reports.

In the article titled 'Big plans for Butterworth', Think City's programme director for Butterworth Murali Ram said to The Star that 'the old town of Buttterworth was set to boom with the completion of the Ipoh-Butterworth stretch of the electrified double track project (EDTP) by next April'.

Ram added that 'Butterworth would rise as the next metropolitan city, especially after the Federal Government's RM2.7bil Penang Sentral transport hub project (between Bagan Dalam and Bagan Luar) was completed'.

The project will begin with three linked roads located in Butterworth that consists of Jalan Bagan Luar, Jalan Jeti Lama and Jalan Telaga Air.
