George Town Heritage Celebrations is celebrated annually in July to mark the historic city being listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 7 July 2008. Through the celebrations, the diverse and multicultural communities in George Town come together to celebrate and commemorate the occasion with street festivals, site excursions and more.
George Town Heritage Celebrations features a significant theme every year. This year's theme is POTENTIAL - Of the Past, In the Present, For the Future, which focuses on exploring George Town's potential in moving forward based on its past narratives and current experiences. 2018 also marks the 10th Anniversary of George Town as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is not just a milestone or an annual episode of events; it’s a time for us to reflect, analyse and plan the utilisation of our heritage site’s potential as we enter a new age of maturity. Join us in July 2018 to celebrate this momentous and joyous occasion!
