Meet Man Asian Literary Prize winner Miguel Syjuco
George Town Literary Festival celebrates its fourth year return with the presence of Man Asian Literary Prize 2008 winner Miguel Syjuco. Hailed from the Philippines, his debut novel Illustrado was praised by the Man Asian Literary Prize judging panel as 'brilliantly conceived' and 'ceaselessly entertaining, frequently raunchy, and effervescent with humour. Rub shoulders with this award-winning writer at 'The End of the Rainbow: Writing for Money' and 'Stranger than Fiction'.

Murakami Three Ways

Delighting fans of Japanese author Haruki Murakami fans, explore the surrealism and elegant prose of his latest novel 'Colourless Tsukaru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage' in Bahasa Malaysia. Yes, you read that right. Participants will also be treated to a tri-lingual reading of Colourless Tsukaru Tazaki in Japanese, English and Bahasa Malaysia read by Hiraki Izumi, Eddin Khoo and Ahmad Fuat Rahmat respectively. The In-between Arts Festival
Drive-in movie
In-between Arts Festival's drive-in movie will rekindle the good old cinematic experience under the stars. Open to everyone, pack some snacks and drinks to go with movie screenings of Chinese comedy 'Huat Ah! Huat Ah! Huat' and local movie 'Kami Histeria'. The screenings are based on first come first serve basis, so come early to get a good parking spot.

Flash mobs aren't just for dancing. 'Celebrating the Spirit of Sportsmanship' as a theme, In-between will present a sporty take to the dance like a badminton flash mob. You'll see fancy footworks, swaying badminton rackets and more, all in the spirit of Malaysia's favourite sport.

Serenading to you amidst the scenery of Penang Botanic Gardens, enjoy sweet melodies by Jazz songstress Bihzhu and Nerd Rock outfit The Rubberbands. Lay your picnic mats for tracks like 'The Heart Way' and 'Palpitations' by Bihzhu and we're adding The Rubberbands' 'My Beautiful Island Life' and 'Till the Following Night' to our music requests too.

Penang Island Jazz Festival
Jazz by the Beach
International and local jazz sensations are ready to play and mingle at Jazz by the Beach. Held at Bayview Beach Resort, catch Seth Glier, CNIRBS, Laila Biali Trio, Monoswezi, Dutch Swing College Band, Richard Bona Group, Jo Young Deok Trio, Schroeder-Headz, Crystal Bowersox, Fresh Dixie Project and Carmen Souza.
